JobSummary:  Performs tasks involving physical labor for Phenix Marble and masonry construction projects. Manual work cutting and facing slabs and other surface of stone. May operate a variety of hand, power tools, fork trucks, skid steer, heavy machines including but not limited to "splitter, CNC, band saws, radial saws, CNC arm saw, etc."  May assist other craft workers in all aspects of Phenix Fabrication.  Performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Faces, and cuts stone to specified size.
  • Shovel debris and remove remnant materials as well stack materials in a uniform manor on pallets.
  • Fulfill assigned duties in timely fashion given by foreman.
  • Assist in other aspects of the business.
  • Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Material handling and storage.
  • May clean and prepare equipment and job area including, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials.
  • Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.  Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director or HR Manager.

Education and/or Experience                                                   

No prior experience or training.

Language Skills                                                

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability                                             

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Computer Skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess or can obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment

Other Skills and Abilities                                             

Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in masonry construction work.

Must know how to read a tape measure and basic math.

Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.

Ability to work independently and complete daily activities per work schedule.

Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Other Qualifications                                                    

Must wear all PPE and safety required equipment including but not limited to vest, hard hat, steel toe boots, pants, gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs etc.

Need to be willing to learn to work in all aspects of weather outside.  Must be willing to learn and work well with others.

Will be lifting heavy stone and other objects.  Must be willing to lift at least 100 lbs. and can stand on your feet for long periods of time.

Excellent stamina is required.

Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.

Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
